The First Uganda National Spelling Bee has come!

The FUNS Bee Competition is an exciting contest in which secondary school students all over Uganda will compete in spelling English words. Though wildly popular in many countries worldwide, it is a novelty in Uganda. The competition will involve thousands of secondary school teenagers from Senior 1 to 3 from all parts of the country competing in a national English spelling competition based on important social issues.
The thrilling competition will be watched on television by millions of Ugandans throughout this year. In addition to being televised, the contest will involve millions of Ugandans including parents, teachers, students and the general public through interactive radio commercials, newspaper coverage and supplements and an interactive online dimension through our website, www.funsbee.com.
Hosted live by literary giants and committed educators, the bee presents an exciting opportunity for the flawed educational and grammatical vagaries of the third world.
But first, come for the launch party on the 17th of July 2010 at the Troth Group in Bugolobi. Barbeque, drinks, spelling and fun!
